The Safeguarding Board has a statutory requirement to ensure that children are being cared for and protected by all services and whilst undertaking activities in the community.
The Board completed an audit in 2016 in order to understand the levels of safeguarding provision within the Dorset voluntary and sector.
This was undertaken in collaboration with the Dorset 0-19 youth forum and Dorset Youth Association via a short survey. This was designed to inform the DSCB and to also support groups in ensuring the safety and welfare of the children and families with whom they have contact. Each group received individual feedback on their survey response and an overview report was compiled.
The NSPCC has developed guidance and a wall chart entitled ‘Are They Safe?’ specifically for voluntary and community groups. These set out expectations and responsibilities for settings and help to identify areas where improvement may be required.
